During a two-week residency, the Deaf collective CDM explores low frequencies and vibrations as a connection between music and the body. The collective is developing a performance suitable for live presentation, focusing on music production using analog and digital synthesizers via Ableton. Movement and Visual Vernacular expand the physical dimension of the music, opening up new paths for communication and resonance.
Created and performed by: Calvin Khan, David Obermaier, Matthias Ranner
Access:
The performance is based on the principles of Deaf Space and provides a clear insight into Deaf Culture.
The performance is based exclusively on visual language; no spoken language is used. The focus is on sign language, body expression, rhythm, images, and movement.
The space is open and visually clear. The seating arrangement and room layout are designed to allow visual communication at all times and to ensure that no obstacles block the view.
An essential part of the performance is loud music and its vibrations. Earplugs will be available free of charge on site.
The audience is asked to be considerate of the visual language during the performance. Interruptions or loud disturbances are not welcome. Instead of loud clapping, visual applause is given by raising and moving the hands.
Seating options such as beanbags, chairs, and mats are accessible without steps. Wheelchair spaces are available.
Please use the early boarding 10 minutes before the start of the performance if you require a specific seat, or reserve in advance at mad@uferstudios.com.
Studio 2 is accessible without steps, but has a raised wooden floor area that is accessible via a 1.5% inclined ramp.
Blankets, water, sugar, and stimulation toys are available in the room.
